Why should my market join? What are the benefits?
There is strength in numbers. For other potential benefits, please visit the Benefits page.
Who else is a member?
Members can be found in the left hand margin and the interactive map of the FMAM website.
How much is the Membership Fee?
The one-time non-refundable Membership Fee is still only $50.
How much are the market’s annual dues?
The market’s annual dues can be calculated using the formula of $15 per vendor per season per market. 2011 annual dues are due on or before August 31st, 2011. The markets use the average number of vendors in the current season.
Does FMAM have a member market liability insurance program?
Yes, we do. This is another benefit of being an FMAM member market. The liability insurance premium for 2011/12 is $125/market and covers the market for $5,000,000 liability. Insurance must be paid by May 1st each year for coverage of May to May.
Ours is such a small market, will it be worth it for us?
YES! We understand very much that markets vary in size and aim to tailor memberships to address this issue. We also understand that different markets have different needs. The issues of a big market close to Winnipeg differ than those in a small town with a limited population. One of the primary aims of the Association is to be as inclusive as possible, respecting the wide range of markets we are lucky to have in Manitoba. Our projects will reflect this.
We don’t live near Winnipeg and provincial organizations seem to always have their meetings there.
Do we ever understand this common problem! Our AGMs move to different locations each year to accommodate as many as possible. Board meetings are by conference call, and when a face-to-face meeting is needed, we plan around people’s schedules as much as possible.
When’s the Annual General Meeting?
Our AGMs are held in conjunction with the Direct Farm Marketing Conference to allow for educational and networking opportunities for new and existing members. Contact us for more information if you are interested in attending and are not an FMAM member.
